The Merton Collection
Over the years the Society has built up a comprehensive collection of books, journals and volumes of letters by Merton along with a wide range of critical commentaries on Merton's work as well as recordings of talks and conferences given by Merton. In recent years the collection has been housed at St Michael's Priory, Willen outside Milton Keynes. Following the Priory's closure in 2019, the collection moved to Turvey Abbey. Since 2023, the Collection has a new home, and TMSGBI is delighted that the Community of the Resurrection, in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, now holds the TMSGBI books pertaining to Thomas Merton's life, writings and legacy. One of our Patrons, Fr Nicolas Stebbing, CR, is a member of CR. You can discover more about Mirfield - Community of the Resurrection by clicking here. Solitude is a way to defend the spirit against the murderous din of our materialism.
